C.I. Video Special Featuring TN Crossroads
This week we are sharing some videos about local people doing some really cool things. We did not produce these videos, they were put together by Nashville Public Television. The show Tennessee Crossroads features stories about local people, places and spaces in and around the Upper Cumberland. Go to www.tennesseecrossroads.org for more information about the show.

Original Art at Crossville City Hall
After a brief absence because of the move to a new location, CACE – Cumberland Artisans for Creative Expression, is again coordinating a rotating schedule of original art and fine craft in the lobby of Crossville City Hall, 392 North Main Street, Crossville, Tennessee.
Beginning now and through December, a few pieces of unusual work by Sharron Eckert will be on display. Specializing in long leaf pine needles, Eckert learned the sewing-and-coiling technique from the late Elisabeth McCutcheon. Both Eckert and McCutcheon were residents of Uplands Village. After a year under McCutcheon;s instruction, Eckert spent a week with Judy Mofield Mallow, a fifth-generation pine needle specialist.
Of her work with long pine needles which are natural, earthy, often overlooked or thought useless, Eckert says she is “delighted that a fiber so simple can be so valued.” Working within this medium requires patience as carefully placed stitches must occur one-by-one countless times throughout the completion of the piece.
